I'm a freshman in college, studying to become an elementary teacher. I just got a brand new Martin guitar that I'm extremely proud of. I love to read and listen to all types of music. I love my dogs, and I miss them now that I'm at college. I love to read and of course, write.

It's Been a Long Time Coming

Well... it has been a while since my last post. Oh who are we kidding, it's been a couple months, and I apologize. Anyway over the last couple of months there's been a few things that have happened: I got a boyfriend, soccer started, got my prom dress, dumped the boyfriend, got my report card, and spring break baby!

We'll start with the boyfriend. Well, there isn't a lot to say about it. He didn't know what he wanted and didn't have a lot to say, therefore we broke up. I guess that's alls I gots to say about that.

Soccer started about four weeks ago now and it's much different than last year, and the two years before that. We had the same coach from my freshman year to my junior year, and she didn't really know what she was talking about most of the time. She didn't really make us come to the practices so sometimes there would be six or seven girls to show up for practice. Quite sad. But this year, now that we're a varsity sport, we have a whole new set of coaches. They take everything seriously, which is a good change from what we had before, and practices are actually hard. Hard practices may not sound fun, but from what we had before, I'm glad they're hard. Our first game is next week, and hopefully we can show some of these teams what we're made of.

Prom is coming up. May 12th to be exact. So my friends, Allison and Kara, went prom dress shopping at Great Lakes Crossing. We went to Group USA and Windsor, but this year I had a hard time finding something that really caught my eye. But I did find a gorgeous dress at Group USA that is red carpet-esque. Allison also found a dress and it looks beautiful on her. Kara tried a lot of dresses on, found one that she kind of liked but wasn't in love with, she didn't want to spend the money on a dress she wasn't in love with, which I can understand. So she's going shopping on her spring break trip and hopefully she'll find something she loves.

Spring break. A time where most people head to Florida, or for all you college kids, Mexico- but my spring break is at home. I don't mind staying at home all week because there's so much I need to get done. I have a resume that I need to make, open house invites I need to get on, and senior pictures that I need to write on and hand out. But the only thing I don't like about staying home is that all my friends are gone. There is no one around. But I'll have more done than they will and that's the icing on the growing-up cake.

What I've Read: Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult. I would have to say that this is one of the best books I've read in a long time. The story is about a 17 year old boy named Peter who has been teased and tormented his entire life. So one day he takes revenge on his tormentors and goes on a rampage, in his high school. He ends up killing 10 people, and wounding 19 others. All of this happens in 19 minutes. The author writes in a way that makes you feel sorry for Peter but within the next paragraph hating him for what he had done. She makes you look at relationships between parents and their children, and how you can make your child breakfast and talk to them, and yet still not know who they are and what they're capable of doing. She captures the pain a mother goes through when she tries so hard to not hate the child she's has loved unconditionally for the past 17 years. I've been telling everyone I know about this book, it's a very fast read with unexpected turns throughout.

What I'm Listening To: Kaiser Chiefs. Their latest album Yours Truly, Angry Mob starts out with the song Ruby, which I can't stop listening to. There's a lot of good, memorable songs throughout the cd. They're probably most well known for the song I Predict A Riot from their first album. They haven't strayed too much from their earlier sound, which is a very good thing. I would say that their sound is a tiny bit like the Arctic Monkeys, but different in a good way.
