I'm a freshman in college, studying to become an elementary teacher. I just got a brand new Martin guitar that I'm extremely proud of. I love to read and listen to all types of music. I love my dogs, and I miss them now that I'm at college. I love to read and of course, write.

Rest and Relaxation

This Christmas break is going by very fast this year. It will be Thursday tomorrow, less than a week before I have to go back to school. We didn't even get a full two weeks this year! What is wrong with our school system that they have to cut back our break, (imagine a pouting face right now). But this break was well needed. I had to have time off from school, I think everyone was feeling that way too. Yesterday my friends had their 18th birthday party, it was them, my friend Kara and myself for most of the night. Another girl did show up, but didn't stay very long. It was fun though with the small group. We just watched movies and talked-girl stuff. Hopefully I'll be going to look at apartments before the end of break. I'm gonna live with one of my friends next year while going to school, I'm looking forward to it. There's a lot of work yet though that needs to be done before we're set for next year.

Christmas was good this year, but it didn't feel like Christmas. We had no snow, we have no snow. But whether we have snow, it was great to see my family. I did get some pretty good stuff this year. I got front speakers for my car, which I really needed because they're starting to buzz and that gets really annoying after awhile. I also got some books and gift cards etc. I went to Barnes and Nobel the day after Christmas looking for the Josh Ritter cd. Both times that I've been in there lately they haven't had the cd I wanted, so I had to order it and I hope it comes really soon. Josh Ritter is amazing! I've only heard one of his songs, "Wolves" but it's the type of song you keep on repeat. My brother and I are also saving for a Wii, from what I've heard they're pretty awesome and their the cheapest between the xbox and the ps3- hopefully we'll be able to get one soon.

What's Christmas Without Snow?

It snowed once so far this month of December. How could that be? Last year there was plenty of snow by this time of year, and yet hear we are a week from Christmas and there's no snow in sight. It's too warm for snow, the temperatures here are only hitting 40 to 45 degrees, not cold enough for snow. I couldn't imagine having Christmas without snow, it just doesn't seem right. I heard that temps were going to drop and that there was a storm coming, but I don't know how acurate that is. The weather guys aren't right a lot of the time, let's hope their right about it this time. Not much has been going on with me lately. I'm sooo looking forward to Christmas break, I'm in need of a long break! The fourth graders are so hyper, they're very excited for break. I did get a couple gifts though from the students which I wasn't expecting at all. I mean I'm not their teacher but I am there in the morning. I don't know, it's just nice to know that the kids do like me, and that I play a big enough role in the education department that they wanted to give me something. I don't think I'll ever get tired of getting hugs, or a loud, "Goodbye Ms. Tyrrell," It doesn't get old.

What I'm Listening To: Collective Soul, their 7even Year Itch album. I got this from my cousin Michelle, and I just started listening to it this past weekend. I really like it, I love the song "Shine" and I was really glad that it was on this album, I'm not sure of the other names of the songs, but they're all really good.

It's Been A While

It's been a while since I last posted, so I'll fill you in. This past Monday I went to CMU to take the Centralis test. I had to write an essay on whether I agreed with the US government about infringing on our constitutional rights. I had to choose whether I agreed with the government or if I opposed the government. Obviously I think that our government shouldn't be watching and spying on everything we're doing, there's more that they can be doing without spending time and money on watching their citizens. Anyway I had about fifty minutes to write, and I see myself as a pretty good writer and plus I pulled out my big words to impress the Centralis judges.

I went and saw Dejavu with Denzel yesterday. It was so good. I haven't been to a movie in awhile that kept me on the edge of my seat. I never knew where the story was going next. I tried to guess what would happen, but I was always wrong. So it's worth the time to rent it or go see it.

What I'm Listening To: Donovan Frakenreiter. He's amazing- he's a little Jack Johnson and John Mayer. I can't stop listening to his self titled cd, I especially love the song Fre.

What I'm Reading: Keturah and Lord Death by Martine Leavitt. This book was so good. It's about this girl, Keturah, who had to live with death her entire life. She gets lost in the forest and Lord Death comes to take her away, but she starts to tell him a story and then won't finish it, so Lord Death says he'll come the next evening to hear the rest of the story. So much happens within a few days in the book, and the ending wasn't what I expected. This book was so good and at the end I felt so bad for Keturah. A very good read.
